25 May 2016
This classification covers those 30 year olds and older and is split up into 5year age groups eg 30 -34ys, 35- 39. Events include – sprints , distance running /walks, jumps, hurdles and throws.

Local masters athlete, Keith Hutton had an enjoyable and successful summer season winning numerous titles and placings in sprints, hurdles and throws at the Sth Island + NZ Masters Track and Field Champs and the NZ Masters Games. He believes that these results were owing to spending a good deal of time on quality training and not rushing but pacing each session. This lead to an injury free season.

Currently, he is enjoying down time but is starting to think about next Summer season with the first challenge being the Sth Island Masters Games in Timaru on 16th October.

Much excitement has also been generated by the news that the World Masters Games will be held in Auckland 21 – 30 April 2017. Check these events out!
